Email: There comes a time...

You know those days where you wake up and just decide enough is enough? Well that happened to me the other day. I woke up and saw my life on that day, and then I looked ahead and as far as I could see….it was all the same. Right to the horizon there was nothing but desks and spreadsheets and sitting in front of the TV. I realised at that point that I was doing everything I had promised myself I would never do.
I’d like to think I’m a man who keeps his promises. So I’m changing my world. I’ve got a new set of paint brushes and a stack of paint and I’m about to re-shape the canvas that is my life. I’m putting a fresh coat of white paint on it and starting again. The new scenery will evolve as I go, but in the short term it looks to be filled with snowy mountains and crisp ocean air. I’m moving to Vancouver, Canada.
I booked a one way ticket to Vancouver this morning, departing on the 30th October. I don’t know how long I will be going for, or even if I will stay there the whole time. But I’m going none the less. My family will always be here, so I can always come back and my friends…well I have been blessed with friendships that will stand the tests of time and distance as if they weren’t even there (your late night phone calls will be daytime for me now Brent!). So I decided to do what needed to be done.
My intention is go to Vancouver for a month or so, then spend Xmas and New Year in London with my sister and Scotty. Then return to Vancouver and make some decisions about what I’m doing with my life. I suspect I will remain in Vancouver for a while, the working visas allow two years. So I might stick around until the Winter Olympics anyway.
I hope our paths cross more times than we think they will. Perhaps when they do, we can journey forth together.
God speed and good hunting.
