Primal Intelligence

To fight an impossible battle is to fight ones own body.

Emotions are primal. They had their evolutionary purposes. Fear was to recognise danger and keep you alive so you can reproduce. Happiness was to keep you doing what you made you happy….exercising, eating a good meal, having sex. Anger was to help you protect what was yours, your woman, your food, your shelter. Fear made you run, anger made you fight. Love was so that you stayed with your partner long enough to reproduce and ensure your offspring could fend for themselves. They were selected because they were not only useful but necessary. But right now they are a burden.

I try to fight them. I try to step above them. To view them in the context of the world, of the universe and how small they truly are. But the mind is not good at that. The mind lives in the here and now, in the tangible space that we perceive. So emotions spill over the containment lines and fill the mind with primal urges. To run, to fight, to love and to be happy.

The battle goes on…
