iPhone Liberation Day!

All HAIL LEMUR!

I don’t own an iPhone. I don’t own a Mac. All I have is a 4th generation iPod video. So my history with Apple related products is limited at best (though my first computer was a Mac).

However a good friend of mine has been caught up in the Apple movement and now enjoys long strolls with his MacBook along the information superhighway. On his journeys he’s made some friends and some of them have started a company: United Lemur.

United Lemur takes the reigns of social change, harnessing the energy of revolutionary fervor and radical altruistic capitalism to ultimately change not just personal computing, but in a very real and practical way, United Lemur is changing the world.

Their aims are bold and I can’t help get excited about this company despite knowing very little about the industry or the people involved.

The company’s first foray into the iPhone application world is with Puzzllotto. A game, a chance to win and most importantly a chance to give. 10% of all revenue from the application donated appropriately to the Madagascar Fauna Group.

As an economist, part of me feels that any start-up willing to sacrifice income to charity before establishing themselves is taking a huge risk. But on the flip side this dedication demonstrates the core philosophy behind the people involved. The passive environmentalists that are abounds in the western world are sure to leap at the opportunity to save the world and ease their conscience, all while having fun.

If you do own an iPhone, keep an eye out for Puzzllotto.

Viva La Revolution!
