MERRY....October?

Always thinking Christmas decorations go up earlier and earlier? Often wonder why pine trees and snow are still used despite being in the southern hemisphere? Find it disconcerting that Father Christmas is one big advertisement for Coke?

Well I can shed some light on one of those issues. It’s official…this is the first week that decorations went up in stores in Perth. 20th of October. Nothing like two months of background Christmas carols to drive you crazy.

Not content with casual observation, I demand evidence. Now it’s on record. In one year time I will be able to confirm or refute whether Christmas comes earlier every year. I may also inadvertently prove whether or not I have the capacity to keep a blog going for that long.

So sure up those bets people.

My money is on underwear and a CD from a band that was cool 3 years ago.

Wow, those in the land of wait a while sure are late starters. Here in Heidelberg, they’ve started the Christmas thing in early Septmber. Can’t even find autumn decorations anymore, and there are entire shops springing up with Christmas fare. At least the Glühwein that will enable us to forget that Christmas looms, isn’t too far away.
Fröhes Weihnachten!
