False Alarm

It’s that time already!?
One of the more consistent disagreements I used to have with my ex-girlfriend was the setting of the morning alarm. She was of the mentality that setting it an hour earlier than required was ideal. When the alarm goes off you feel really good as you know you still have an hour of sleep left to enjoy.
I, on the other hand, sit at the clock before bed and figure out the latest possible time required for me to be able to get up and get to where I need to be without being in a mad rush. Maximising sleep without interruption.
Her claims of “enjoying the last hour” of sleep baffled me. To enjoy something you have to be consciously aware of it happening….. which ironically is the one thing you cant do if you are sleeping. By her reasoning, why not set it for five hours before you have to get up and enjoy even more sleep? Or have an alarm clock which could detect the exact moment you fell asleep for the first time so it could then wake you up and thus let you enjoy your entire night’s sleep?
I just put it down to her being a little crazy, which is not a bad thing, I like crazy. It turns out, however, that some of my closest mates also enjoy setting their alarms early. One guy needs a minimum of 20 minutes before he can get out of bed!?
I actually have no idea where I’m going with this…..so I’m just going to go to bed instead.
